In this episode we’re joined by Dima Mekdad, a Syrian Londoner who used to be a pharmacist, is currently finishing her PhD, and also co-founded a not-for-profit over five years ago, whose mission is to tell and share stories that showcase the cultural heritage and human identity of Syrians. Having experienced a complete burn out after a major crisis in her life, she’s been on her own personal growth journey to reconnect with herself.
What we talked about:
- How Dima used running to support her mental health, despite having never run before
- Using gratitude in slow and intentional ways
- Why spaces to check in with how we feel are so important
- Dima’s system she created to embed joy in her life, her “J-Factor”
- What to do when resistance shows up and it feels like you’re going backwards
- Asking for help and staying consistent
